lilies for Kayra

Before the day is over, just wanted to post a little something I made for my friend for her birthday gift! Though this is the first time I've painted on a canvas, first time painting flowers, and first time (with an attempt) writing in a script-looking font, I guess it turned out okay? Inspired by the struggles in college, the verse I wrote is Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." I painted lilies, which was also inspired by that passage (Matthew 6:28). Happy 19th Birthday, Kayra! College is hard, but is good because it gives us sweeter fellowship with Jesus!

"If you must blink, do it now."

Last Saturday, I went to the theaters with some friends to watch Kubo and the Two Strings. Honestly, I had no idea what the film was about. I remember my friend showing me the trailer when I was still at Diablo Valley, but I couldn't even remember what happened in the trailer. All I remember thinking was that the animation looks so cool! That was really why I wanted to watch it (and partly because Jerrod Maruyama fell in love with the film lol).

But in all seriousness, the film was amazing. The story was great, they have characters you will love, and the animation was incredible. I really hope this film wins some award for Best Animated Film. Laika definitely set the bar on experimental animation.

(And sorry if the sketch doesn't come out too great. I drew this during my break at San Jose State and I still don't know where or how to use the scanners here, so I took a picture of it on my iPhone lol)
